After a formal notice letter sent to Danone, Surfrider Foundation, ClientEarth and Zero Waste France have decided to take the action further.
Companies, as major users of plastic for their packaging, and more broadly for the proper functioning of their activities, and as prescribers of good practices to their partners, have an essential role to play in reducing the risks associated with plastic.
As in September, we ask that Danone complies with the law on the duty of vigilance.
In it’s vigilance plan, we are asking Danone to provide a complete assessment of its plastic footprint, including plastics used in producing the products it sells, plastics used in logistics, transport and promotions and in plastic packaging.
This assessment should include a summary of all plastics used by the company in all its production activities. We also ask for a deplastification trajectory based on the assessment, which needs to be adapted to the urgency. This deplastification trajectory must be ambitious and specify the means of action of Danone to achieve it.
Urgent quantified and dated objectives are necessary to enable a real commitment to plastic reduction.
